Updated Plan

After meeting with Dr. Ben Jacob we have a new plan of attack. She will start on a new chemo known as the "red devil". She will do a treatment once every three weeks. Let's hope the "red devil" gives this cancer "hell"! Keep the prayers and faith coming. She will beat this!

  1. Kandace, The "Red Devil" huh. That doesn't sound fun! You can do it though. Look at everything you have been through this far! I hope you or someone is journaling all this for you. When you get back to teaching those students you will have first hand experienced all this! What a journey and you are holding on for the entire ride. I'm sorry you have to go through all this. BUT remember I told you your were going to make it.Keep up the fight! You are a winner!
    Love you lots
My prayers are with you(and my niece, who is going through breast cancer and bone cancer right now.) everyday. I hope you can feel the faith and prayers everyone is sending you!

Kandace. I am so glad you are getting the red devil, aka adriamycin. I got this one along with cytoxin for the first 4 months of my chemo, then after that I got the Taxol for the last 4 months. The red devil is called the red devil because it will knock those cancer cells right out of the ball park. It is also a pretty red and make your urine turn red for the night after, so don't let that worry you. You are graduating to the hard stuff, which you need now to be on your way to becoming cancer free. This is highly effective chemo. It will make you tired, sleep good at night tired. Go with it and rest, let it do what it needs to do. It is going to zap those cancer cells. I am so glad they decided to use this one with you. This one should not cause bone pain or neuropathy. Take Lortadine, or claritin before treatments. My chemo buds suggested this and lots of the side effects did not show up. We love you so much and are still praying. I also pray for your enery. I love you. You go girl! Go, Fight, Win!!!!!Let me know when I can come see you. I just don't want to bug you, but am bitin' at the bit to see you.

Oh yeah, one more thing. With this chemo you will probably need the nupagen shot. This one will take your RBCs and WBCs way low. Much lower than the taxol. You will probably go in the next day after chemo for this shot. Make sure you take the Loratidine or claritin with this and if they let you give it to your self, don't give it in your upper leg. This shot may cause bone pain. The allergy medicene does help and not giving the shot to yourself in the thigh helps with the bone pain. I gave it to myself, and by giving it in my arm, this helped a lot with the leg pain. Love you again.
