"Peace I Leave With You"

Thursday, October 27
Tonight the world lost an earthly angel.  My mom fought like a girl up until the very end.  She fought this battle with courage, compassion, love, strength, humor and grace-just like she lived this earthly life.  If she had to leave, as a family we are glad that she didn't have to suffer.  As a family we did everything possible to help her with this fight.  My dad is amazing.  He has been by her side fighting every step of the way.  As family we gathered in her room.  My dad gave her a special blessing.  She passed away peacefully during it.  We know that she loved us and we loved her more than words can express.  One thing my dad has told us, to help us get through: "Don't ask why--why now, why her"... Instead ask "Why were we so lucky?"  Thank you for loving my mom.  She has felt your love, faith and prayers.  They have lifted her spirits and strengthened her throughout this fight.  I know that she will continue to love, lift, and support all of us as we go through this life and will greet us with her infectious smile and a big hug when that time comes.

*There will be a viewing on Sunday night (October 30) at Allen-Hall Mortuary in Logan and her funeral will be Monday (October 31) at noon at the Smithfield Stake Center

*I've decided to continue to blog about our family.  The new blog will be journal entries for my mom on behalf of her grandkids entitled "Dear Grandma".  The blog address is grandmakandace.blogspot.com  My mom wouldn't want to miss a thing in the lives of her grandkids.  She was the best grandma ever and I know that she will continue to be.

  1. Kandace, beautiful, sweet Kandace. Your absence will be felt far and wide, and by so many. The battle was not an easy one, but you remained valiant to the end. The reason we have such trials in this life is to make us stronger, more humble, and to prepare us for our next adventure. Your journey has brought you to a new adventure. Those of us left behind will be sad for a while, but we know we will see you again. I wish you and your family peace.

  3. A rare lady who makes everyone around her a better person. She included my daughter in every holiday treat she was making for the grand-kids and was the woman I like to call my third mom. Love always, Kandace, and be at peace.

  5. I can feel your happy spirit today. You still warm my heart and soul. Randy is right about how lucky your family and we are that you were in our lives.

Sadness creeps in for your family, but then I feel your loving spirit. I know you would want us to honor you with happiness and celebration of your life. You are a strong force that will never fade. Forever you will glow in my heart and in all of our hearts. You will glow forever Kandace. You know this. So . . . love you girl. You are an energy of love and warmth. I love you. See you later. I can see you now, you are patting the couch, saying come sit let's visit. I loved our talks. I could have stayed at your house for hours talking with you and your mom. Seeing the both of you together brings a smile to my face and still does. I felt like I was home, in Oklahoma with my family when I was with you. So much love you have to share with everyone!!!!!!!!! Your love is still here and we can all feel it. You are actually comforting us during this time. Kandace always a comforter. You are loved so much and we can continue to feel your love. Continue to love us. Save a place on the couch my friend.

Thanks Natalie, this blog was an awesome one and such a treasure for you and your mom, and for us.

  7. To Kandace's family: To hear of Kandance's passing this morning was indeed sad to hear and she and you have been on my mind all day. One cannot imagine the void left by such a great young lady but at the same time her legacy and passion for life will be carried on by a great family.

I will miss her sweet spirit, her contagious smile, and her fabulous sense of humor. She would always bring things down from home to the shop that needed fixed (because she said that Randy couldn't fix it... Ha Ha) and it was always a privilege to help her out (particularly when she brought in some associated with bugs...) I enjoyed ribbing her about that on a regular basis.

May God bless you and comfort you at this time and may you relish the good times that made her such a great lady, a class act, and a great friend. I will miss her. Love you, Kandace!!!

My thoughts and prayers are with you now and always.

    Condolences from Eric Bowen

PS... If you still need something "fixed", please don't hesitate to bring it down... I would still be honored...

  9. Natalie, You have done such a wonderful thing to
do this blog. I was hoping that I could see your Mom before she went because I wouldn't be afraid of bringing germs. I'm so glad that she died peacefully. Your Mom was the closest Friend I have ever had. Even though we haven't spent much time together since I retired I thought of her very often. What a wonderful person she is. I don't believe it will be very many years until Christ comes and she will be with you again. I'm so glad that I was inspired to look at the Blog tonight rather than find out in the paper tomorrow. You and your Family have been so wonderful through all of this. She must be so proud of all of you.

  12. To my friend and colleague Kandace. I have learned so much from you about grace and candor. You were one of those people who would always tell you the truth and give your opinion and then let us make our own decisions! I appreciated all the newspaper clippings you and your mother sent to me with my son's golf picture in them.
Your service to the community of Certified Nursing Assistants will be so greatly missed. Blessings from all the CNA programs in the State of Utah. I have had many programs call to send their condolences to your family. We feel a loss...and we know that you are at peace now.

A special 'we miss you' from Debbie, Debbie and LuAnn at the Utah Nursing Assistant Registry.
