"What Do You See"

Lately my mom has been asking us (our family), "What do you see when you look at me?"  My answer:  "I still see my mom."  My boys will simply answer, "Grandma".

Hair or no hair :) I still see beautiful blue eyes and a smile that lights up a room.

Thinking deeper, I see my hero. I see strength, faith, compassion, courage,  determination, and hope.  I see stubbornness, sarcasm :) wit, curiosity, love, and empathy.

I see a FIGHTER, a SURVIVOR, and a BRIGHT FUTURE.

My question now to you, "What do you see when you look at my mom?"  Please leave a comment and let her know, or send her a note.  She appreciates your faith, prayers and support more than words can express.

  3. When I met Kandace for the first time I could tell she was a fighter and after seeing her over the next few weeks she confirmed what I had thought. It didn't matter what was placed before her she faced it with great courage. I have been keeping track of her progress through this blog (thanks Natalie) and she is amazing! Kandace you and your family will always hold a special place in my heart.

The love and light radiate from her into me and make me feel better for a day or so and then I want to be in her presence again. I have never seen Kandace more beautiful. PS. I really dig her mom also. I see beauty and love and a bright light.

  9. The question to me Kandace, is what do you see? Do you see your loving husband, wonderful kids, and adorable grandchildren? Do you see all those who love you? Do you see in all of us that "difference" you have made? I do. And I know you do too. I know you can beat this swear word of a thing called cancer! Give it hell!!
    Love you!

  10. I see a very special friend. I used to see and work with every day. You were a delightful
companion when we worked together. You were someone that made coming to work an experience to look forward to. You were the greatest confidant and supporter. You are an excellent teacher who appreciates her students. Your students remember and appreciate you. I run across them frequently. You are one of the reasons I most miss teaching at BATC.

Now I seldom see you Kandace but I know our Friendship will never end. I miss the joy and
light you bring to my life in person, but you are always with me in my heart. I pray for your
    full recovery every day.

You have such a special Family too. Natalie, what a wonderful daughter you are.

I just had my gallbladder out, and I can't begin
to imagine how hard it must be for you, Kandace, to do this long term stint to recovery. I'm a wimp!

Your progress is a miracle and you are one Great Lady. Love You! Ruth

Whether we were passing in the hall, seeing each other in the cafeteria, or sharing common students, you have always lifted me. You understood! I see a woman who has inspired me and given me great advice many times. I miss you and pray for you and your family!
